YEAR PLANNER FOR THE YEAR 2008 /2009
HEALTH CAMP -
October, 2008 |
This is a project that has been conducted annually at
school to uplift the health of present Devi students.
The
school medical camp was held on the 18th October, 2008, with a participation
of over 35 qualified doctors who are our past pupils and parents.
This event was greatly helpful to all the students in grade 6, 9 and 12. All
the students were scanned for Vision care, hearing and other diseases. The
students were carefully examined and referred to relevant clinics where
necessary.
We hope that more doctors
will participate in future. Please be kind enough to forward your details
and contact numbers if you like to take part in this meritorious act.
Voluntary basis services are welcome from Devi-doctors to carry out health
work smoothly in school sick room (Tuesday and Friday) and hostel medical
clinics (Thursday). |

TRIBUTE TO YOU, DEAR TEACHERS -
January 2009 |
Teachers
who served for Devi Balika Vidyalaya from 1976 till 1996 were felicitated at
a ceremony held at the Wimala de Silva Auditorium, on the 10th January,
2009. About 55 numbers of our dear teachers were invited and
ceremonially felicitated. Present and past principals of Devi Balika
Vidyalaya were also participated as special invitees to grace the occasion.
It was a very rare opportunity for all of us - the past
pupils, to see, meet, and to have a friendly chat with many of our dear
teachers among a large gathering of our own school mates.
Dear teachers, as past pupils, we wish you good health,
long life, and happiness. |

SISU ATH-WELA |
Sisu Ath-Wela has been launched as a "Lend A Hand" project of the Past
Pupils' Association. |
|
This project seeks to offer support to scholars who have difficulties in
adjusting themselves materially to the challenging requirements of an
academically oriented education, as is found at Devi Balika, while living
away from their simple village homes. |
|
This has been practiced in close collaboration with the Devi staff members
in identifying the targeted students. They are introduced under strictly
confidential terms, to generous donors among the past pupils and well
wishers, who continue giving material and moral support until the student
completes her school education. |
|
So lend your hand to another Devian to come up ........
|
Contribute for
Sisu Ath-Wela. |
